So Cute and Fun!

November 26th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

Well last week we went to a campground in Alabama called ‘The Woods RV park and Campground’. It was fun. The owners’ dog had puppies, and that’s what we would play with. this is what my favorite one named big’n looks like: Curious Big’N.
Here is a puppy named tiger coming to attack my camera. :Tiger attacking
The momma dog only had 1 girl and 3 boys. Here is the girl named Belle asleep in Melanie’s arms. : Sleepy Belle.
She is the rarest kind of dog because they are usually the color of the boys..But yeah..they are so cute..I was crying so hard one night because I missed big’N so much..but when my dad threatened to take away all memory of them, I had to stop,…other wise he would’ve taken away my pictures and everything!!

But this is big’N up close: Big’N up close

I think Big’N is the cutest! I like belle too! Belle is the only one they are keeping..Wahh! I wish they could keep all of them!  Oh well…Life is life…I wish life were more fair! I asked mom if I could get Big’N, because I have enough money, but she said NOOOOOO!!

Well we met these kids, and they were named: Trey, connor, Elizabeth and Nelson. Here is a picture of Elizabeth…I took it while she was asleep: Sleeping Elizabeth

Well I gotta go…Time to go to Old town…Oh ya! We got to florida at like 2:00 am..bye!

Drive-in movie theaters? Who knew?

November 17th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

Well yesterday, we went to a drive-in movie. It’s where you bring food and such, and you drive into a parking space which is in front of a screen, and you watch the movie from in your car! It’s so much fun! We watched the bee movie! It was funny.

Before we went to the Movie, we went to a covered bridge at a mill call  Kymaulga mill. It’s a mill that makes grain. (they still do!) Even though the mill is falling in the water, they still make grain. They charge you 3$ a person to go in. They do that because it will help them make money so that they can save the mill.

They want to save the mill because it was made in 1867. It almost 200 years old! The people that made this mill, made it so that they could have food during the civil war. It was tucked way in the trees.

It was interesting. We bought some of their grits. Grits are little pieces of corn. They are the pieces that can’t be made into anything. You can only buy grits in the states. They are good. (well the ones that Quaker makes!) The ones that they gave us, where yellow.

They weren’t as good as the ones that are processed. I have to say. I would recommend going there because the people there are friendly, and because it may be gone into the water by the time you go.

At the mill, there is a goose. He is basically the people that live there’s pet. He used to have a mate, but lost her to an accident. Poor thing. As you may know, geese mate once, and they stay together until they die. But the sad thing is, is that he lost it’s mate to a poacher.

The owners of the mill, came out one morning, and saw that the goose was laying down with an arrow in it! The goose was killed with a bow and arrow! The goose is now really sad.

What he does now, is that whenever a car comes and parks, the goose comes and looks at his reflection. He thinks that his reflection is his mate. And whenever a car takes off, he will follow it and start screaming.  The owners are looking for a new mate, because it will  be less hard on him.

It’s so sad to see him there. He only sleeps beside a car, or mirror because he can’t stand to sleep without “her”. It’s so sad. Poor thing. Well I guess I’d better go. Talk to you later.

Correction to last blog!

November 15th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

It turns out that the people that got arrested were the blacks + whites who wanted to make a point. The blacks and whites would ride together in a bus. They would both get arrested. They were the freedom riders. So that’s what happened.

YAY and Blah…

November 15th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

Well yesterday started out great as usual. Melanie and I got to go to the attractions before school, because we really wanted to try this one ride, but the tires were always flat. Well we got there super early…actually about 9:30am here.

Anyhoo…It was fun. It’s soo exhausting! After the peddle racers, we went on the Topsy turvy thing that you can find at Calaway park. It was soo fun, except for the fact that I got sick. It was gross, I hate being sick. But I didn’t puke. Which is good. lol.

Just so you know…Out here, there was a VERY big storm, and a guy at the restaurant we went to said that they have tornado’s regularly, which really freaked me out, so of course, I packed a bag of belongings that I would like to keep in case we had to evacuate, and I took with me: My pictures of friends, Some clothes, my stuffy That I’ve had since I was born, a stuffy that My friend Victoria gave me, and a little stuffy that my friend Christie gave to me as a going away present before we left on this trip.

Come to think of it, I still haven’t unpacked yet.. LOL..Oh well, I can do that tomorrow, before we go to a drive-in. We are going to watch the Bee Movie. Never seen it, but I’ve heard of it, and it sounds and seems to be appropriate for all ages. So I figure that it will be a good one.

Well Today we went to a museum of Martin Luther King Jr. I don’t recommend people going, unless you would like to know more about the war between Blacks and whites. I find that us Caucasians were extremely rude to them back in the day. We (not including me) used to hang blacks even if they did nothing wrong!

I can’t think of what I would’ve done. I definitely would recommend going there if you would like to learn more about the battle of the different colors. One thing I will say thought, is that back in those days, the “colored” people would sit at the back of the bus, and the “whites” would sit at the front of the bus.

One person named Rosa Parks, she was black, she got arrested because she sat in a white persons seat. That’s all she did, and she got arrested for it. Terrible. Another thing, is that if blacks were going to travel, they got to go on the bus ride, but as soon as they arrived at their destination, they would get out of the bus, and then they would get arrested.

Not everyone would get arrested, but the majority would. It’s sad to think that. I would NEVER treat my friends differently just because their skin was a different shade then mine. Even if they look different on the outside, doesn’t mean they are different on the inside.

I have a lot of friends who are a different Shade then I am, but I still treat them the same as I would treat a person of the same shade. I really don’t like how people can be so racist. It is just so terrible. I hope you guys enjoyed my blog tonight. It is one of the longest, and it also has a very important meaning to it.

I appreciate you guys reading this, and I hope you all have a good night, and remember those who were tortured just because of their shade. I hope you will think twice before you judge some. Thank you for reading.

DeSoto Caverns…Creepy yet cool

November 13th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

Today, as soon as I finished my school work, we went to DeSoto Caverns. It is attached to our campground. The caverns were cool. Some people scratched their initials in the rocks. The last one they found was from 1912. The earliest and oldest one they found is from 1735. It was from a guy named I.W Wright.

I.W Wright was a fur trader from the early 1700’s. The government or whatever they had back then thought that he had done something incredibly wrong to the “Sacred” caves. They thought that since he did”graffiti”, that he should have some really bad punishment.

You know what they did? They did something REALLY gross, and a REALLY bad punishment.  They had him scalped. Now scalped is really gross. The reason that it’s gross is because they cut and peel off your scalp, causing you to bleed to death.

Now that’s really gross to talk about, so I better stop talking about this because sooner or later I am going to get Nightmares. Anyways…Oh shoot…I have to talk about another thing that I REALLY don’t want to talk about.

The natives. The native Americans were the people that were known to be the firsts in the cave. When the natives died, they would put the bodies on the top of a mountain, and then let nature take it’s course. Which means that they would let the bugs and birds eat the bodies and then they would grab the clean bones and put them in a bag made of grass, and then bury them in a small section.

Some cave historian people, were digging only 6 inches deep and in a section that was 2 feet by 2 feet, and managed to find 6 BODIES!!! They found 5 adult bodies and 1 child’s body.  Pretty strange eh?Well the historians say that they were from the natives, and they believe that the WHOLE cave has bones and other bodies under the ground…And that made me feel comfortable…..I can’t even walk through a CEMETERY never mind through a..a…A WHOLE FOOTBALL FIELD OF DEAD PEOPLE!!!!!

Well that’s enough about that…that’s all that we did today..except for the fact that we got 6 free admission tickets to the park…They gave us 6 tickets that are usually 17.99$ for a 6 pack. But Melanie and I did some chores to pay it off.

Well I better let you go. Talk to you later

Wait…I forgot some very Important details.

November 12th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

I finished almost a weeks worth of school in one day, and when we were at the amusement park, we did some panning for gems. Dad found nothing very useful, Melanie found a crystal point, Mom didn’t do it, and I…and I found 2 fossil shark teeth. Wait I know what your thinking…Gina? She found SHARK TEETH? Totally wrong person!

Well yes I did find them, and the lady said that they had stopped putting fossils in a few years ago! I found 2 shark teeth that are really RARE!!! Look at me! Wait…I’m not supposed to be happy about me finding SHARK teeth.

Well that’s all the details for now. Talk to you later

Hooray, and well…Crap

November 12th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

Hooray! I finished my work before 1:45 Calgary time! The good thing about me finishing my work is that, at the campground we are staying at, there is an amusement park right next door…Literally.

Well as soon as I finished my schoolwork, I got to go to the amusement park. It was good, except for the fact that everything was crap. The only good things were the motorized bathtubs. They were fun! I definitely look forward to doing it again. The other thing was …do you guys remember the Topsy Turvy ride at Calaway park?

Well they had one of those for four people…except…it was a manual one. The people would strap you in, and then they would give you a good hard spin. It was fun.

Other than that, we went through a wooden maze that was 3/4 of an acre. It was big. I WAS winning, except Melanie found her way around, and beat me by like 1-2 minutes. Darn it. lol.

Well that’s all we did today, so I will let you go. Talk to you later.

The Carnton Plantation

November 10th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

To be honest, I didn’t find it that interesting, but that’s because I’m not into all that war stuff. The Carnton Plantation is just a house With a mile long cemetery in the yard. The reason that this is important, is because the family that lived in this house was wealthy, an just ordinary like us. But, there was a 5 hour war in that very yard. The yard is in the country so it has a lot of acres.

The war lasted only 5 hours, but a lot of people died. I mean A LOT! Let’s just say that the whole population of Winnipeg died. That’s 10x more than the amount of people who died from the nuclear bombs dropped in japan. So basically, if you want it more straightforward because you don’t know how many people that is, this is an estimate, but AT LEAST 600,000 people died. That is a lot.

The soldiers that were wounded were brought into the house that the ordinary people lived in. That house could fit 2 800 people. They had 40 people per room, and they had 7 rooms. Well they had eight, but one was for the family, so that they could be safe.

But the house was made by the slaves of the ordinary people. :) It has blood stains all over the floor and the house is just really big. Each of the rooms are 20 by 20, and 12 feet tall. I would have loved to live in this house…If it was in Calgary and if it didn’t have blood stains, so lets just say a replica, but not an exact replica.

It’s a nice house, but WAY to big! I would get lost in this house. Just kidding. Did you know that, the owners of this house rented the house out for 66 years straight? Before the war happened, the owners of the house; Carrie and John Mcgavock, had a livestock farm, which means that they raised pigs and cows and stuff. No horses though. :( Which is probably good because the horses were probably going to get put into the smoke house.

The smoke house, (sorry I might get choked up about this…as you guys may know, I LOVE horses, anyhow…)  The smoke house is where the slaughtered (choke) animals would go to get hung from the roof and then cooked. (choke again)

Anyways the cattle would come through the front hallway in the house to get to the barn. Yup they would walk straight through the house. I wonder how much cattle dung they had to clean up every night. :)

Well it was good, but I didn’t walk through the cemetery. I hate walking through cemeteries because I’m always afraid of falling through a place where someone is buried. It gives me the shivers. Not that I hate going to visit my dead relatives, but It just doesn’t feel right.

If they have wood leading to the place, then I’m all good, but if not then I get the shivers. Dad says that it takes a very long time for the people inside the coffins to disintegrate, because of a chemical they put on the body and in the coffin. So if you had a relative that died in the last 4-6 years, then you could dig up the coffin, and you could find their body still in there. It might be starting to disintegrate, but it wouldn’t be that much.

Now I wouldn’t do that unless you had to. Well enough about that topic. On the way home, we stopped at this place which had a really cool ball. It was a globe balancing on water in a circle thing. It moved constantly. Here is a picture of the globe. Globe on water . It’s really cool. The video I was going to show you was too big to put on here. I will try to show all of my friends the video if they would like in march.

Well I gotta go, this is probably the biggest Blog I’ve ever written in this entire trip. Well I’ve wasted enough of your time, so I will go. Talk to you later

Ice cream Factory…:P

November 09th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

Ok, I know this has absolutely nothing to do with the ice cream factory, but my sister and I watched this video on GodTube. It’s completely a christian site, with a few exceptions, but it’s appropriate. I find this one really hilarious, so I am going to post the link. It is:

http://www.godtube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=d0b0216e3a30b53eaa6c

All you have to do is copy and paste into your web browser. It’s so funny. The topic is dude’s.

Well back on topic….

The Ice cream factory was cool. We met these really nice people, who have been working there for more then 40 years! Yup I said 40! The husband worked there since he was 12 years old! It was cool to talk with them!

The best part of this tour, was that we got to try lots and lots of Ice Cream. The funny thing is though is that mom asked this question:

So you must get to take home a lot of Ice Cream!

And Peggy (the lady that works there) had the Funniest reply:

Actually no. We aren’t much of Ice cream eaters at all. You know the one type of Ice Cream  I do have in my freezer is Haagen Daaz. Ha ha.

Well Melanie and I got a bit of free stuff;Ice cream scooper’s and some combs and some stickers and a poin, oh and not to mention a free High school musical milk ad. Go figure! Well it was nice of them to give us that stuff. We also got a Titans Calender (Football team). It’s cool. It has all the team members in it. It’s interesting.

Well I guess I’d better go. It’s almost time for lunch. And we are having…Chicken soft tacos! homemade too! Just like that chocolate chip cookie dough and happy Birthday flavoured Ice cream I had yesterday..Oops I’ve said too much..Oh well. :)

Talk to you later

We didn’t do anything today

November 06th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

Well today all we did was school, school and more school. It wasn’t very interesting, but school isn’t that interesting unless you have an experiment. I like experiments. Come to think of it, I just did an experiment with celery sticks the other day!

Well anyways enough about school. :) On thursday we are going to an Ice cream factory. (no, it is not Haagen daas.) :) I know how addicted some of you guys are to Haagen Daas Ice cream. I have to agree, It is REALLY good. :)

Well we don’t know for sure yet, but we might be going to a Nissan factory as well. We aren’t allowed to wear shorts, but that’s for safety reasons. Dad should have been wearing pants when I was cutting his hair a few years ago…

It all started when He was sitting on a chair in the living room with the tile. I was starting to cut his hair, when all of a sudden, I accidentally leaned on the cord, causing it to slip out of my hands. It landed on dad’s leg, and it started to cut into his leg.

I will stop there, before all you freaks start to go “Oh no! Gina what a terrible thing to do! Why would you do that! Stop being mean to your poor OLD dad!” Haha! Notice how I said OLD?

Well the reason that I said OLD is because yesterday, when Dad and I went to the store, He called me Baby, because I am the baby of the family. So I called him The OLD GUY JUNIOR!! Yes grandpa anderson. He is a junior you. Oh and he’s a junior grandma Anderson too! When he laughs, he looks like grandma anderson, except with a bit more shoulder action. :)

Well I gotta go.Talk to you later.
